(2021 V10 Performance Shown)
(2021 V10 Performance Shown)Supercars, by nature, aren't generally driven daily. However, the Audi R8 is up to the task, capable of adapting to a comfortable cruise or spirited afternoon around a track. After 15 years, the exhilarating yet refined R8 is preparing to exit stage left, taking Audi's roaring V10 powerplant with it. As a fitting send-off for such an impressive machine, Audi Sport GmbH is launching a second edition of the exclusive 2023 R8 GT RWD variant with enhanced V10 performance, an upgraded dual-clutch automatic transmission, a new track-only drive mode, and exclusive GT styling. The new Audi R8 and R8 GT will go on sale in early 2023, with production of the R8 GT limited to 333 units worldwide. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights.
- Audi R8 GT Performance: Audi has specifically tuned the RWD-only 2023 R8 GT's 5.2-liter V10 powerplant to make 602 horsepower and 413 pound-feet, bringing it in line with the performance of the all-wheel-driven quattro® variant. With a reconfigured 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, Audi says the R8 GT will be able to reach 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and 124 mph in just 10.1.
- "Torque Rear" Drive Settings: R8 GT drivers will be able to adjust their desired amount of rear-wheel slippage thanks to a new Torque Rear drive mode with seven unique settings. Level 1 provides only a limited amount of rear wheel slippage for more grip when cornering, while Level 7 maximizes slippage for enthusiasts who prefer sliding sidewise around track curves.
- Weight Savings: The R8 GT is 44 pounds liter than the standard R8 Coupé V10 performance RWD thanks to exclusive equipment like lightweight 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Sport Cup 2 high-performance tires, ceramic brakes, a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic anti-roll bar, and anodized aluminum coupling rod connections.
- Design: The R8 GT exhibits unique styling commensurate with its place in the lineup. It strikes a stunning pose with an exclusive Carbon Aerokit, including canards, flics, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a rear wing spoiler with gooseneck suspension. Additionally, the interior is adorned in black and red, with GT-specific floor mats, bucket seats, and a sequentially numbered plaque.
