Audi produces some of the industry's most compelling premium SUVs. Audi vehicles offer refined, well-equipped accommodations, engaging performance, and sharp styling. They're also renowned for safety, thanks to their sophisticated frame and chassis design, advanced driver aids, and confident handling dynamics. Last month, Audi reported that seven of its SUVs had met new, stricter requirements to earn TOP SAFETY PICK recognition from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Earlier this year, the IIHS added new requirements to its TOP SAFETY PICK award, including an "Acceptable" or "Good" score in a more energetic side crash test. Vehicles must also receive an "Advanced" or "Superior" rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation. For the upgraded TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, vehicles must now earn a "Good" score in the new side test and "Advanced" or "Superior" in both daytime and nighttime pedestrian tests.
So far, seven Audi SUVs have proven themselves against the revised IIHS standards to score the coveted TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) acknowledgment. Five of those models were upgraded to a TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating.
